Napier is the capital city of the world for Art Deco buildings .In 1931 there was a huge earthquake in Napier which destroyed most of the buildings ,they rebuilt in the deco style. Each year in February, Napier transforms back to the 1920's and 30's. Everywhere are people dress up in that era and jazz bands play and people dance in the streets. Look up this web site for all the events. Guided walks are available each day of.the week.
This is one of the top attractions. Have a great day taken by tractor and trailer along the beach to the rare Gannet colony at Cape Kidnapper. We have done this ,you will never forget this day out. If you would rather go overland in more comfort ,this is also available.
This web page is for people who love a organized unhurried half day/full day or overnight hikes in the Ruahine or Kaweka mountain ranges. Hawke's bay is one of the two main growing areas of New Zealand for vineyards. You could dine at a different one each day of the week with wonderful food and wine prepared by top chiefs. The Mission is very close to The Parsonage 10 min drive away and is an historic Monastery. It is considered the best one of the best wineries in Napier, beautifully situated for just a glass of wine and look at the view or lunch/dinner.
Why would I want to go there ? I hear you say. This is also 1 min walk away in our street. It is New Zealand's oldest prison and is soooooo different that you will be talking about it for a long time. A one hour guided tour will give you lots of photo shots and will make you feel like you are in the wild west Pacific style.
Check out ocean spa hot pools and spar complex which is just a the bottom of our road. It also has a great gym with ocean views as you work out.
